The dual-screen Phone YotaPhone to watch, this is the video :

Last Thursday, we had the YotaPhone Edouard, the terminal of Russian design, running Android and with the particularity of having two screens, one on each side of the smartphone. Being the first HD LCD technology and the other e-ink.

It will not take long to verify that the YotaPhone is perhaps not an obscure concept that will never see the day: Anton Tarasenko, Head of Software Development at Yota Device rushed to make a video where it performs a demonstration of the main features of YotaPhone on what appears to be a prototype condition.

First we learn that the name “YotaPhone” is perhaps not definitive, and the phone will be well up to 2GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. We also note that it will be without the menu bar, and orders “Back” and “Home” will be implemented via a gesture recognition on the lower bezel of the phone!

Anton Tarasenko spends the rest of the video presentation of different situations in which the presence of a dual display proves to be useful and relevant. It also presents the action that toggles a display from the LCD to the destination e-ink screen.

Finally, Yota announced the availability for April 2013 API allows third party developers to implement the use of the dual screens in their applications.

Personally, the fact that I find most impressive is the ability to enjoy viewing the e-ink screen, even when the phone battery is completely discharged! Here is a nice application of this technology to screen thought to be exclusively for reading lights.

We look forward to more on this phone or the next CES2013 MWC2013.
